Packing Day cont.

I started stacking boxes in the bathroom to get them out of the way. It has definitely helped.

So packing is going fairly well. I have now started packing for the honeymoon. I figured I needed to get the summer stuff I needed out before it all got put away. In the process I also found more winter clothes!! Very excited because the drive across the country is going to be a cold one. So far the plan is to stop in Utah to go skiing, St. Louis to see the Arch and Aunt Sandy, and a bow shop. Also in the packing process I found a book called "The New Roadside America". So I am sure that I will be looking for more fun places to go visit.

Packing Day

So, I haven't been very good at blogging lately. I have been a little busy. In addition to wedding planning (getting married in 3 weeks), Wally and I are also moving across the country in less than a week and moving to NH. We also have 2 dogs that are very active and keep us busy. The puppy has had an upset stomach and had diarrhea for the last couple of days and finally starting to feel better. In the mean time I have been working on getting my NH PT license, a job in NH, getting the final RSVP's for the wedding, and just started working on the seating chart.

As for my running, I have been slacking. For christmas I got Vibram Five Finger running shoes. I have run in them twice and they cause major calf soreness. I ran earlier this week, run 1/4 mile, walk 3 minutes for 30 minutes to ease into it.

That is it for now.I will post more later.

Getting back on the horse

Hey there... So today was my first weekday run in a LONG time. I took both the dogs and only ran a few miles. Man am I out of shape. Who would have thought that a month and a half ago I ran 26.2 miles in one day. Well, that was the kick in the butt I think I needed.

Other news, I officially gave my 2 weeks notice and Wally and I are moving back to the East Coast.

As for dinner, since Wally is still in Tahoe I haven't been cooking much. Dinner was a large salad with cukes, tomatoes, avacado, yellow peppers, and a boca buger cut up wiht Balsamic Vingarette. YUM...

New Year Update!!

So it has been quite a while since I have posted. A lot of things have changed in the mean time. I have gotten a standard schaunzer puppy. He is now 8 months old. So that makes 2 dogs for this household. As for my running, I did complete the Seattle Marathon in November 2010. I finished in 5:01. This is a long time but it is also 30 minutes off of the first one I ran, so I was happy.

Wally and I have also run the First Run Portland, OR, Jan. 1st at Midnight. This was a great run. We finished in 30:01. Again this is slow for most people but at a 9:40 pace I was happy with this. I was also happy considering on Christmas Day Wally got me Vibram 5 figer shoes to try barefoot running. We ran just about 2 miles in them and my calves were sore... well.. until New Years Day. I thought that I wouldn't make it through the run.

So this year the plan is to run another Marathon, my hope is Chicago with a few friends, my mom (maybe), and possibly my sister (if i can convince her to do it).

As for the rest of my life; Wally and I are getting married in 30 days, moving to NH just before that, and starting a new job after the honeymoon. Good thing I strive on stress?!?!

Seattle Marathon

So the goal is set. I have officially signed up for the Seattle Marathon at the end of November. I have done some serious slacking in regards to my running in general. In the mean time, my fiance and I have gotten a new Puppy. His name is Calvin, he is now 4 months old. We have finally got him potty trained for the most part. I have been extremely busy the last couple of months making sure he is played with, fed 3x/day, and has plenty of potty breaks.

Today was the first day of the training, started off with a 3 mile run. The older of the 2 dogs, Forest (2 1/2 yo.) was dragging as well. I ended up pulling him up some of the hills. Well, it should get better.

Watch for new updates! Can't wait to get started.

monday and wednesday runs

So after this weekend, I have new ambition for running. Like I have said before, my newest goal is to run the Portland Marathon in October.

So monday I went to Banks, OR to run along the Banks-Vernonia Trail. It is part of the rails to trails network. I ran a 5 miler along a flat semi-shaded paved trail. All and all, I would go back there again for running or biking.

Now today is Wendesday and I just ran around the trail new my apartment. In the beginning of the run there is a cedar bridge that we cross over... I love the smell of cedar especially after the rain. I am still looking for beavers in the waters. So today was a 4 mile run with the dog.

Overall, things are going well with the training. Be back soon.

So spring is here and race season has started. My first race of the season was the Starlight Run - 5K - in Portland, OR. It is part of the Rose Festival in Portland. The race was fun, there was a costume contest before the race, which means there were tons of unique ideas. Some of the costumes included 80s rock stars, The Men of Fast Food (Ronald McDonald, Col. Sanders, Wendy's, Little Ceasar), Tons of Mario Brothers characters, an outhouse, batman, superman, princesses, and many others. The race took place along the route of the Starlight parade which meant that the streets where lines with spectators cheering you on. Thank you to all those people that encourage you along the way.

No fun recipes at this time. :(
